Draft Grade — Seahawks

FutureD
Best value of the weekend goes to the Seahawks for Collins: B. The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Alfred Collins, the 90th overall pick, roughly 34 picks past where he belonged.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Spending an early pick on safety with edge rusher and running back open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Cooper has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
Value with a capital V on Tetairoa McMillan in the 20th pick, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick36
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at the 36th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick52
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
A quiet steal in the Round 2 slot: Jihaad Campbell for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick63
Rnd2
Donovan Jackson
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Donovan Jackson. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick70
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
By-the-book stuff, Maxwell Hairston at slot 70 squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick82
Rnd3
Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo is a better player than pick No. 82 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Pick90
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at Round 3, Pick 26 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick92
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ozzy Trapilo at pick 92 is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick95
Rnd3
Danny Stutsman
They let Danny Stutsman come to them and pounced at No. 95. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick122
Rnd4
Billy Bowman Jr.
A surprising call. With edge rusher and running back still to address, they spent the 122nd pick on Billy Bowman Jr., a safety they were not short of.
Pick137
Rnd4
Dillon Gabriel
The board had Dillon Gabriel higher than the 137th overall pick, and the quarterback fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick172
Rnd5
Seth McLaughlin
A reasonable price with a little left over, Seth McLaughlin in Round 5, Pick 34. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick175
Rnd5
Connor Colby
Connor Colby at slot 175 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick182
Rnd6
Tyler Cooper
A reach on Tyler Cooper in pick No. 182; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick190
Rnd6
Oronde Gadsden II
No drama and no debate, Oronde Gadsden II went about where he belonged in pick 190. The roster fit checks out.
Pick197
Rnd6
Jay Higgins
They paid sticker price for Jay Higgins in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick223
Rnd7
Luke Elzinga
Luke Elzinga slid further than he should have, and pick No. 223 is lovely value for the specialist. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick234
Rnd7
Cam Jackson
Cam Jackson in Round 7, Pick 18 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
