DN2 DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B
ValueB+
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A passer of the future in Sanders, and a B, for the Seahawks. Start where it matters. The Seahawks took Shedeur Sanders to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Nelson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In slot 18 they get the face of the franchise at fair value.
Pick50
Rnd2
Nic Scourton
A tidy little value on Nic Scourton in pick No. 50, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick52
Rnd2
Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery at the 52nd overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick82
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
They read the board right and Donovan Jackson was the payoff at No. 82. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick92
Rnd3
Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo at Round 3, Pick 28 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
Pick137
Rnd4
Dylan Fairchild
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Dylan Fairchild in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick172
Rnd5
Jake Majors
Taking Jake Majors in the 172nd pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick175
Rnd5
Brashard Smith
Somehow Brashard Smith was still sitting there in pick 175, and they pounced on premier running back value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick223
Rnd7
Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II in Round 7, Pick 7 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick234
Rnd7
Jack Nelson
Circle this one: Jack Nelson at the 234th pick is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
