Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Patriots and Thornton Jr.: B-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Patriots watched Dont'e Thornton Jr. slide 53 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Armand Membou
In slot 4 they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams in pick 38 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick69 Rnd3 Bradyn Swinson
Bradyn Swinson is a better player than the 69th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick77 Rnd3 Wyatt Milum
Wyatt Milum at the Round 3 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick106 Rnd4 Sebastian Castro
Sebastian Castro in Round 4, Pick 4 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick144 Rnd5 David Walker
A edge rusher of that caliber at pick No. 144 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick171 Rnd5 Riley Leonard
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Riley Leonard in the 171st pick, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick220 Rnd7 Jonah Monheim
The board fumbled Jonah Monheim all the way to No. 220, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick238 Rnd7 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
You do not let a wide receiver like Dont'e Thornton Jr. reach Round 7, Pick 22 and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
