Grand theft in slot 230: the Panthers steal Sanders and grade out a B.

Somebody in the 230th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Panthers sat still while Raheim Sanders, the No. 180 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In slot 8 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick57 Rnd2 Trey Amos
Trey Amos is a better player than pick No. 57 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick74 Rnd3 Tre Harris
Tre Harris slipping to Round 3, Pick 10 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick111 Rnd4 Gunnar Helm
Gunnar Helm at No. 111 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick114 Rnd4 Darius Alexander
They will replay Darius Alexander at pick 114 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick140 Rnd5 Tory Horton
Tory Horton at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick146 Rnd5 Billy Bowman Jr.
Circle this one: Billy Bowman Jr. at the 146th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick163 Rnd5 Kobe King
They robbed the room for Kobe King here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick230 Rnd7 Raheim Sanders
You do not let a running back like Raheim Sanders reach the 230th overall pick and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
