Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Seahawks and Lachey: D-.

Somebody took the Seahawks to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.

The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Lachey. The Josh Oliver pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
In pick 18 they get a two-high chess piece. Need was not the driver here.
Pick24 Rnd1 Armand Membou
No edge and no loss on Armand Membou in No. 24; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick50 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
They barely believed it either: Jalon Walker still on the board at the Round 2 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick82 Rnd3 Maxwell Hairston
They read the board right and Maxwell Hairston was the payoff at slot 82. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick87 Rnd3 Savion Williams
They paid sticker price for Savion Williams in the 87th overall pick, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick92 Rnd3 Jaylin Noel
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylin Noel at pick No. 92, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick97 Rnd3 Gunnar Helm
Gunnar Helm at the Round 3 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick137 Rnd4 Tyler Shough
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Shough. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick173 Rnd5 Jack Nelson
Jack Nelson in Round 5, Pick 34 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick187 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
They let JJ Pegues come to them and pounced at the 187th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick212 Rnd6 Cobee Bryant
Taking Cobee Bryant in No. 212 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick236 Rnd7 Luke Lachey
Steal is underselling it; Luke Lachey at pick No. 236 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
