Manning is the Falcons' new face under center. Grade: D.

The phones were a trap the Falcons kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

The whole projection now runs through Arch Manning; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They will need Manning to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Tate falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.

In the 19th overall pick they get an enforcer at safety at a price that makes it sweeter.

In the 27th pick they get a franchise quarterback, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.

They took Anthony Hill Jr. at par in Round 2, Pick 7, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick40 Rnd2 Carnell Tate
Carnell Tate in No. 40 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick42 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Nothing to complain about; Jake Slaughter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.

A reach for Eli Stowers in slot 69; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.

A tidy bit of business in pick 77, where Colton Hood graded well above the range. A minor need, but a need all the same.
