Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B
ValueC NeedA- TradesB+ FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Mendoza in the fold, and a B for the Jets.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Jets spent their marquee pick on Fernando Mendoza, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

They are betting Anthony Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Landing Mills that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In No. 1 they get their quarterback of the future, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick71 Rnd3 Darrell Jackson Jr.
Darrell Jackson Jr. at Round 3, Pick 7 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick101 Rnd4 A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy in pick No. 101 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick140 Rnd4 Vincent Anthony Jr.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Vincent Anthony Jr. this early at the 140th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick183 Rnd6 Evan Stewart
They took Evan Stewart at par in pick 183, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick200 Rnd6 Monroe Mills
The board fumbled Monroe Mills all the way to the 200th pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick201 Rnd6 Raylen Wilson
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Raylen Wilson. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick236 Rnd7 Jalon Daniels
Jalon Daniels in the 236th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick256 Rnd7 Kayin Lee
Kayin Lee in No. 256 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick257 Rnd7 Elliot Washington II
By-the-book stuff, Elliot Washington II at slot 257 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
