Larceny in No. 71 lands the Commanders a B+, Haulcy and all.

If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Commanders, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend.

However the rest shakes out, Haulcy at that price is a win they earned. Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Crawford to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Adding Jordyn Brooks by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get the heartbeat of the defense. Need was not the driver here.
Pick43 Rnd2 Brandon Cisse
Nice patience on Brandon Cisse, who had no business lasting to pick No. 43. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick71 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy at the 71st pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick145 Rnd5 Kevin Coleman Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Kevin Coleman Jr. at the 145th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick185 Rnd6 Nate Boerkircher
Nate Boerkircher at slot 185 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick196 Rnd6 Diego Pavia
A premium they did not need to pay, Diego Pavia a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick223 Rnd7 Keyron Crawford
A conviction pick on Keyron Crawford at pick No. 223 that the board grades a round light. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
