Draft Grade — Lions
Overall

FutureB-
Grand theft in the 208th pick: the Lions steal Jones and grade out a B+. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Lions were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
Jones falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Kamari Lassiter
They did well to land Kamari Lassiter in No. 30, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick62
Rnd2
Calen Bullock
A quiet steal in Round 2, Pick 30: Calen Bullock for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick93
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
A slide stopped in slot 93, with Christian Haynes worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick167
Rnd5
Tyler Batty
Tyler Batty at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick208
Rnd6
Christian Jones
Christian Jones at the 208th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick251
Rnd7
Nathaniel Watson
Steal is underselling it; Nathaniel Watson at pick No. 251 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
