Draft Grade — Lions
Overall C+
ValueC- NeedC+ TradesC+ FutureB-
A mixed bag for the Lions, and a C+ to match.

When the story of this class is written, it opens with AJ Green at the 114th overall pick, a reach of 72 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.

With linebacker and wide receiver unsolved, spending premium capital on running back is the choice that costs them. On value alone, Bolden makes the weekend a net positive. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 KJ Bolden
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing KJ Bolden in the 33rd overall pick. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick58 Rnd2 Princewill Umanmielen
A wild overpay on Princewill Umanmielen in the 58th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick69 Rnd3 Jyaire Hill
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jyaire Hill well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick89 Rnd3 Samson Okunlola
Samson Okunlola in slot 89 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
Pick90 Rnd3 Dylan Raiola
A big swing on Dylan Raiola at Round 3, Pick 26, well ahead of any board in the building. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick94 Rnd3 Blake Frazier
Value said wait; Blake Frazier in the Round 3 slot says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick95 Rnd3 Williams Nwaneri
This one needs a full-page explanation: Williams Nwaneri in the 95th overall pick, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick114 Rnd4 AJ Green
They reached a country mile for AJ Green at pick No. 114, and the board is aghast. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick128 Rnd4 Jordan Marshall
A curious use of slot 128. Linebacker and wide receiver needed the pick; a running back in Jordan Marshall did not.
Pick162 Rnd5 Adepoju Adebawore
They left a pile of value on the table to take Adepoju Adebawore this early at Round 5, Pick 25. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick199 Rnd6 Jake Guarnera
A straight-up fair deal on Jake Guarnera at No. 199, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick207 Rnd6 Noah Carter
They reached into another round for Noah Carter, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick211 Rnd6 Tavion Gadson
They talked themselves into Tavion Gadson at pick 211, and the board did not agree. A fine player at a spot low on the priority list.
Pick217 Rnd6 Jaden Platt
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaden Platt in the 217th pick. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
