FutureC
The Lions turned the phones into found money: B. The tape said wait; the Lions did not. Keilan Robinson went at pick No. 247, a good 98 picks before the board was ready.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
However the rest shakes out, Wilson at that price is a win they earned.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick Analysis
Pick33
Rnd2
Quinyon Mitchell
They took Quinyon Mitchell at par in pick No. 33, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Chop Robinson
Chop Robinson at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick61
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
Nothing to complain about; T'Vondre Sweat went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick73
Rnd3
D.J. James
D.J. James slid further than he should have, and the 73rd overall pick is lovely value for the cornerback. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick98
Rnd3
Roman Wilson
A tidy bit of business in No. 98, where Roman Wilson graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick163
Rnd5
McCallan Castles
Quietly one of the better values of the day, McCallan Castles at slot 163. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick207
Rnd6
Christian Jones
Nice patience on Christian Jones, who had no business lasting to Round 6, Pick 32. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick209
Rnd6
Chad Lindberg
They talked themselves into Chad Lindberg at the 209th pick, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick247
Rnd7
Keilan Robinson
Keilan Robinson in the Round 7 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
