Draft Grade — Titans
Overall
B+
ValueA-
NeedB-
TradesA+
FutureB-
The Titans let Carter fall into their laps, and walked away with a B+. The Titans did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Barrett Carter fell into the Round 5 slot. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
They will need Smith to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Jahdae Barron
In Round 1, Pick 15 they get a potential shutdown corner. More want than need.
Pick21
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In pick 21 they get a security blanket over the middle at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
The board fumbled Malaki Starks all the way to the 40th overall pick, and they scooped it up. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick46
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
You do not let a linebacker like Jalon Walker reach the 46th pick and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Pick71
Rnd3
Omarion Hampton
Steal is underselling it; Omarion Hampton at pick No. 71 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick93
Rnd3
Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond at No. 93 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick102
Rnd4
Jared Wilson
They paid sticker price for Jared Wilson in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick117
Rnd4
Harold Fannin Jr.
A tight end of that caliber at slot 117 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick119
Rnd4
TreVeyon Henderson
Circle this one: TreVeyon Henderson at the 119th pick is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick142
Rnd5
Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins in No. 142 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick168
Rnd5
Barrett Carter
Somehow Barrett Carter was still sitting there in Round 5, Pick 29, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick180
Rnd6
Donovan Smith
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Donovan Smith well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick241
Rnd7
Ollie Gordon II
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Ollie Gordon II in pick No. 241, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
