The 49ers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

The 49ers clearly saw something nobody else did in Joe Milton III, taking him 40 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

The Jones value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

In pick No. 31 they get a cornerstone up front, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.

A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zach Frazier. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

The board had DJ James higher than slot 98, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.

Brenden Rice in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.

Theo Johnson at the 125th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It patches a soft spot without any drama.

Good price on Johnny Wilson in pick 132, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
