The Broncos found their guy under center in McCarthy: D-.

The Broncos went off the board in a big way for Josh Wallace, 44 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. J.J. McCarthy is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off.

The Solomon pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman still on the board. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not. Brooks falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
