Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall D-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Broncos lost the trade table, and the D- tells the story.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Ja'Had Carter in the Round 7 slot, a good 39 spots before the room expected him. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Bell falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

They went 8 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
By-the-book stuff, Rome Odunze at the 12th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick36 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
A conviction pick on Tyler Guyton at the 36th overall pick that the board grades a round light. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick67 Rnd3 Ruke Orhorhoro
No drama and no debate, Ruke Orhorhoro went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick76 Rnd3 Michael Pratt
A premium they did not need to pay, Michael Pratt a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick102 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at No. 102 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick115 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
A reach for Darius Robinson in slot 115; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick122 Rnd4 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in pick No. 122 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick124 Rnd4 Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg in Round 4, Pick 24 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick149 Rnd5 Jaheim Bell
Jaheim Bell slid further than he should have, and pick 149 is lovely value for the tight end. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick181 Rnd6 Theo Wease Jr.
They paid a round early for Theo Wease Jr. in the 181st pick, more than the board wanted. It fills a real need, too.
Pick196 Rnd6 Rasheen Ali
A reach on Rasheen Ali in slot 196; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick212 Rnd6 Kingsley Eguakun
Kingsley Eguakun in the Round 6 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick233 Rnd7 Ja'Had Carter
Ja'Had Carter at the 233rd overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick241 Rnd7 Jase McClellan
Good price on Jase McClellan in No. 241, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
