Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall C+
ValueB NeedB TradesC FutureD
The Raiders land in the muddy middle: C+.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Nick Martin at No. 214 is 51 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. The final tally is a middling C+.

However the rest shakes out, Howard at that price is a win they earned. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The DK Metcalf deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.

Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
Abdul Carter at pick No. 6 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick21 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. A real need, handled.
Pick37 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
They took Jihaad Campbell at par in the 37th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick68 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
They read the board right and TreVeyon Henderson was the payoff at the 68th overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick74 Rnd3 Dylan Sampson
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Dylan Sampson for less than the market said. It fills a real need, too.
Pick107 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
A slide stopped in pick 107, with Kevin Winston Jr. worth more than the price. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick144 Rnd5 Will Howard
A quarterback of that caliber at slot 144 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick147 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick182 Rnd6 Roc Taylor
They paid up for Roc Taylor at the 182nd overall pick when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick214 Rnd6 Nick Martin
Nick Martin at pick No. 214 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick218 Rnd6 Antwane Wells Jr.
Antwane Wells Jr. at pick 218 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
