Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesC+ FutureB
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Packers and Jones: B.

The Packers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Elijah Jones, the No. 193 name on the board, in pick 251.

The Hartman pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Spending an early pick on TE-EDGE with wide receiver, tight end and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In the 25th pick they get a bendy edge with upside at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick47 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
Tyler Nubin at Round 2, Pick 15 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick58 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
Good price on Payton Wilson in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick88 Rnd3 Cade Stover
A curious use of pick 88. Wide receiver, tight end and other spots needed the pick; a TE-EDGE in Cade Stover did not.
Pick91 Rnd3 Trey Benson
A straight-up fair deal on Trey Benson at slot 91, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick127 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending No. 127 on Cedric Gray with wide receiver, tight end and other spots unsolved.
Pick140 Rnd5 Justin Eboigbe
They went early on Justin Eboigbe in pick No. 140, and the value did not follow. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick168 Rnd5 Walter Rouse
No drama and no debate, Walter Rouse went about where he belonged in the 168th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick204 Rnd6 Tanor Bortolini
They paid up for Tanor Bortolini at pick No. 204 when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
Pick216 Rnd6 Dwight McGlothern
Dwight McGlothern at the 216th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick243 Rnd7 Sam Hartman
Sam Hartman at the 243rd overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick251 Rnd7 Elijah Jones
You do not let a cornerback like Elijah Jones reach No. 251 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
