FutureB
Best value of the weekend goes to the Cowboys for Moss: B. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Miller Moss got past him. The Cowboys do not have to explain a thing at the 214th overall pick. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The offensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Jermod McCoy
In pick 15 they get a press-man option on the boundary. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at pick No. 41 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick47
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
Nothing to complain about; Caleb Banks went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick109
Rnd4
Jaydn Ott
Jaydn Ott in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick148
Rnd5
Evan Stewart
Evan Stewart in slot 148 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick177
Rnd6
Xavier Nwankpa
Xavier Nwankpa at the 177th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick214
Rnd6
Miller Moss
The board fumbled Miller Moss all the way to the 214th pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick228
Rnd7
Marquis Johnson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Marquis Johnson at No. 228. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
