FOXY KNOXY DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks

Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B
ValueC+
NeedB-
TradesA+
FutureB-
The Seahawks worked the phones like thieves and earned a B. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Seahawks did exactly that with Jermari Harris in the 137th pick.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. With wide receiver, quarterback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In pick 27 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick50
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts at pick No. 50 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick52
Rnd2
Demetrius Knight Jr.
Demetrius Knight Jr. at No. 52 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick66
Rnd3
Elijah Arroyo
They jumped the gun on Elijah Arroyo, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick82
Rnd3
Cameron Williams
A quiet steal in the 82nd overall pick: Cameron Williams for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick92
Rnd3
Ashton Gillotte
Ashton Gillotte in Round 3, Pick 28 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick133
Rnd4
O'Donnell Fortune
O'Donnell Fortune in No. 133 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick137
Rnd4
Jermari Harris
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick 137 on Jermari Harris with wide receiver, quarterback and other spots unsolved.
Pick172
Rnd5
Willie Lampkin
No edge and no loss on Willie Lampkin in the 172nd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick175
Rnd5
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues in the 175th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
Pick223
Rnd7
Jackson Hawes
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jackson Hawes this early at slot 223. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick234
Rnd7
Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner in pick No. 234 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
