Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B+
ValueC+ NeedA- TradesA+ FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Lions for Emmanwori: B+.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Lions were there to profit. Nick Emmanwori, the No. 18 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 2 slot. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. The offensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Burke pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the offensive lineman spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 JT Tuimoloau
In the 28th pick they get a bendy edge with upside, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick60 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
Steal is underselling it; Jihaad Campbell at pick No. 60 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick61 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Somehow Nick Emmanwori was still sitting there in the Round 2 slot, and they pounced on premier safety value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick62 Rnd2 Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke in the 62nd overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick101 Rnd3 Sebastian Castro
A quiet steal in Round 3, Pick 37: Sebastian Castro for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
