AstroWorldSecurity DRAFTING FOR THETexans
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Texans
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Texans: B-. Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Texans never addressed running back, and it is the kind of gap that lingers.
Wohler has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. On value alone, Jackson makes the weekend a net positive.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In slot 25 they get a ballhawk on the back end. More want than need.
Pick58
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins in No. 58 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick79
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson slipping to pick 79 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick89
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 89 with a little surplus value in Ozzy Trapilo. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick166
Rnd5
Kyle Williams
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kyle Williams. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick236
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Good price on Isaac TeSlaa in Round 7, Pick 20, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick241
Rnd7
Hunter Wohler
Hunter Wohler at the 241st overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
