FutureA+
The Giants fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+. The Giants torched the value chart for Andres Borregales, taking him 56 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The Judkins pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The Borregales pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots still on the board.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick54
Rnd2
Quinn Ewers
Quinn Ewers in No. 54 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick65
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
By-the-book stuff, Tate Ratledge at the 65th pick squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick87
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
Taking Quinshon Judkins in Round 3, Pick 23 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick97
Rnd3
Jake Majors
Jake Majors at the Round 3 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick99
Rnd3
Andres Borregales
Of all the spots to shop, they chose specialist. Andres Borregales in the 99th overall pick leaves interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots for later.
Pick105
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
A clean, defensible pick in pick 105 with a little surplus value in Tez Johnson. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick124
Rnd4
Malachi Moore
They went early on Malachi Moore in pick No. 124, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick154
Rnd5
Seth McLaughlin
A reach for Seth McLaughlin in No. 154; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
