The phones sank the 49ers this weekend: D-.

Nobody else had Steele Chambers anywhere near Round 4, Pick 36. The 49ers did, by 55 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. With running back and edge rusher unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them.

Melton falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.
