Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall A-
ValueA- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Eagles and Mathews Jr.: A-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Eagles were there to profit. Jermaine Mathews Jr., the No. 162 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 215. They executed a plan and it shows in the A-.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. The Travon Walker deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Matayo Uiagalelei
In pick No. 20 they get a bendy edge with upside at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick49 Rnd2 Will Echoles
Taking Will Echoles in the Round 2 slot is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick87 Rnd3 T.J. Moore
They will replay T.J. Moore at No. 87 for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick97 Rnd3 Lance Heard
Nice patience on Lance Heard, who had no business lasting to Round 3, Pick 33. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick119 Rnd4 Zeke Berry
They robbed the room for Zeke Berry here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick146 Rnd5 Corey Myrick
Corey Myrick at the 146th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick158 Rnd5 Jordan Marshall
They paid sticker price for Jordan Marshall in the 158th pick, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick215 Rnd6 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
Circle this one: Jermaine Mathews Jr. at pick 215 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick225 Rnd7 Benjamin Brahmer
Benjamin Brahmer at pick 225 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
Pick229 Rnd7 Avery Johnson
A tidy bit of business in slot 229, where Avery Johnson graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick239 Rnd7 Elinneus Davis
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Elinneus Davis at the 239th overall pick is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
