Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB- TradesB+ FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Packers: B-.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Packers would have aced it. Jaylen Wright at No. 88 is 70 spots clear of where he belonged.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Spending an early pick on safety with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In No. 25 they get a long-term starter on the line, a steep price for the projection.
Pick41 Rnd2 Kamren Kinchens
A clean, defensible pick in pick 41 with a little surplus value in Kamren Kinchens. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick57 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper at the 57th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick88 Rnd3 Jaylen Wright
Jaylen Wright at slot 88 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick97 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
A conviction pick on Khyree Jackson at Round 3, Pick 34 that the board grades a round light. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick125 Rnd4 Javon Foster
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Javon Foster. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick135 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
A curious use of the 135th overall pick. Edge rusher, quarterback and other spots needed the pick; a safety in Cole Bishop did not.
Pick137 Rnd5 Kamal Hadden
A straight-up fair deal on Kamal Hadden at pick No. 137, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick161 Rnd5 Kitan Oladapo
Kitan Oladapo in No. 161 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick203 Rnd6 Jordan Magee
Jordan Magee at pick 203 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick217 Rnd6 Matthew Jones
A wild overpay on Matthew Jones in Round 6, Pick 42, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The roster fit checks out.
Pick219 Rnd6 David Ugwoegbu
David Ugwoegbu at slot 219 is a conviction pick that outran the value. This was not a hole anyone had circled.
Pick246 Rnd7 Joshua Cephus
They did well to land Joshua Cephus in the 246th pick, just ahead of his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
