Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall D
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
Muhammad should have been long gone. The Chiefs pounced, and earned a D.

The Chiefs lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.

It is not that Muhammad is a bad player; it is that the Chiefs had louder needs to answer first. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The Muhammad steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Jackson Jr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Jordyn Tyson
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a true top target at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick20 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In the Round 1 slot they get a featured back, outstanding value to boot.
Pick40 Rnd2 Dontay Corleone
A clean, defensible pick in No. 40 with a little surplus value in Dontay Corleone. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick47 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
They read the board right and Sonny Styles was the payoff at slot 47. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick71 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
No edge and no loss on Keionte Scott in the 71st pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick74 Rnd3 Eli Stowers
Good price on Eli Stowers in the 74th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick101 Rnd4 Zakee Wheatley
A safety of that caliber at the 101st pick is the definition of value, full stop. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick109 Rnd4 Malik Muhammad
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Malik Muhammad in the Round 4 slot leaves quarterback for later.
Pick113 Rnd4 Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
Kenyatta Jackson Jr. at slot 113 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick146 Rnd5 Niki Prongos
A tidy little value on Niki Prongos in Round 5, Pick 8, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
