Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
Hicks should have been long gone. The Bears pounced, and earned a B+.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Jaden Hicks tumbling to the Bears in the 225th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Reaching for Powers-Johnson left real value on the table behind him.

They will answer for taking DT-EDGE early while interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots went begging. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick17 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In slot 17 they get a bendy edge with upside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick68 Rnd3 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Value said wait; Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 68th pick says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick104 Rnd4 Maason Smith
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 104th overall pick on Maason Smith with interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots unsolved.
Pick132 Rnd4 Donovan Jackson
By-the-book stuff, Donovan Jackson at pick No. 132 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick141 Rnd5 Cole Bishop
Nothing to complain about; Cole Bishop went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick182 Rnd6 Moose Muhammad III
The board had Moose Muhammad III higher than Round 6, Pick 7, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
Pick225 Rnd7 Jaden Hicks
A defensive back of that caliber at pick 225 is the definition of value, full stop. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
