Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall

FutureB+
The Chiefs let Judkins fall into their laps, and walked away with a A-. Somebody in the Round 6 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chiefs sat still while Quinshon Judkins, the No. 74 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.
The Brown pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They will answer for taking safety early while quarterback and edge rusher went begging.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick Analysis
Pick40
Rnd2
Derrick Harmon
A tidy little value on Derrick Harmon in pick No. 40, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick68
Rnd3
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at No. 68 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick79
Rnd3
Xavier Watts
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Xavier Watts in Round 3, Pick 15, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick90
Rnd3
Ajani Cornelius
A premium they did not need to pay, Ajani Cornelius a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick94
Rnd3
Logan Brown
They talked themselves into Logan Brown at slot 94, and the board did not agree. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick96
Rnd3
Malachi Moore
A surprising call. With quarterback and edge rusher still to address, they spent the Round 3 slot on Malachi Moore, a safety they were not short of.
Pick133
Rnd4
Savion Williams
Savion Williams in the 133rd overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick142
Rnd5
Daylen Everette
Circle this one: Daylen Everette at pick 142 is a fall that decides a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick200
Rnd6
Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins at slot 200 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick232
Rnd7
Luke Lachey
They went early on Luke Lachey in the 232nd pick, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick255
Rnd7
Cody Lindenberg
They robbed the room for Cody Lindenberg here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
