Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedA- TradesA+ FutureB-
The Browns finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B+.

Start where it matters. The Browns took Fernando Mendoza to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.

Every board in the league had Hobbs lower, and that gap is the story. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Moore at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In pick 4 they get the arm they will build around. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick27 Rnd1 Denzel Boston
In No. 27 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick40 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Olaivavega Ioane. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick83 Rnd3 Rod Moore
The board fumbled Rod Moore all the way to the 83rd pick, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick106 Rnd4 Xavier Chaplin
No edge and no loss on Xavier Chaplin in slot 106; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick141 Rnd5 Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis at Round 5, Pick 1 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick145 Rnd5 J.C. Davis
By-the-book stuff, J.C. Davis at pick No. 145 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick150 Rnd5 Darius Taylor
Darius Taylor in the 150th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick204 Rnd6 Daevin Hobbs
Daevin Hobbs in No. 204 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick244 Rnd7 Bear Alexander
Bear Alexander at the 244th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
