Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
Maye is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: B-.

Start where it matters. The Bears took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. The cost of the Ugwu reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Smith. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
In pick 1 they get a No. 1 receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Trey Benson
Trey Benson at the Round 3 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick110 Rnd4 Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith in the 110th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick146 Rnd5 Cam Hart
Cam Hart slid further than he should have, and pick No. 146 is lovely value for the cornerback. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick198 Rnd6 Brian Ugwu
This one needs a full-page explanation: Brian Ugwu in No. 198, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
