Williams is the Commanders' new face under center. Grade: B-.

Start where it matters. The Commanders took Caleb Williams to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

Allen has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Ulofoshio.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.

They took Caleb Williams at par in No. 2, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.

They paid sticker price for Patrick Paul in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.

The board had Kingsley Suamataia higher than the 63rd overall pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.

Junior Colson at slot 67 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
