You can hear the double-takes from here. The Commanders took Rayuan Lane III at the Round 7 slot, roughly 38 spots before his name belonged. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

The Hampton value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
