Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
B
ValueA-
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Commanders kept it disciplined and banked a B. The Commanders treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the Round 7 slot on Phillip Webb a full 105 spots early.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took West. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In pick 29 they get a home-run threat at receiver, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick61
Rnd2
Benjamin Morrison
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Benjamin Morrison in Round 2, Pick 29, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick128
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at pick No. 128 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick212
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in slot 212 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick243
Rnd7
Phillip Webb
A big swing on Phillip Webb at No. 243, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick245
Rnd7
CJ West
CJ West at the 245th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
