The board owed the Commanders one, and it paid up: Damien Martinez, the No. 160 name on the board, sitting there at the 205th overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep. No fireworks, but a solid B.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
