FutureA+
The Commanders cashed the board's mistake on Corley: B+. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Malachi Corley, the No. 76 name on the board, stolen at the 103rd overall pick.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. The Beebe pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
Amarius Mims at No. 24 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick36
Rnd2
Chop Robinson
No drama and no debate, Chop Robinson went about where he belonged in the 36th overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick40
Rnd2
J.J. McCarthy
By-the-book stuff, J.J. McCarthy at the 40th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick56
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
A clean, defensible pick in slot 56 with a little surplus value in Jackson Powers-Johnson. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick67
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
A premium they did not need to pay, Cooper Beebe a notch or two before his time. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick101
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
They paid sticker price for Khyree Jackson in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick103
Rnd4
Malachi Corley
They will replay Malachi Corley at pick 103 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick138
Rnd5
Cedric Gray
No edge and no loss on Cedric Gray in Round 5, Pick 2; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick181
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III is a better player than the 181st pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick220
Rnd6
Jordan Magee
Nothing to complain about; Jordan Magee went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
