The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Chris Johnson, pick 150, roughly 31 picks past where he belonged. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

The McNeil-Warren pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with wide receiver, quarterback and other spots still on the board. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.

The back end got a real overhaul.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
