The Commanders won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A.

The Commanders ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Very little went wrong, and the A is earned.

They will answer for taking linebacker early while edge rusher went begging. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. However the rest shakes out, Coleman at that price is a win they earned.

Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Brock Bowers
In pick 19 they get a seam-stretching tight end, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jordan Morgan at Round 2, Pick 4 is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick39 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Nice patience on Keon Coleman, who had no business lasting to the 39th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick40 Rnd2 J.J. McCarthy
They paid sticker price for J.J. McCarthy in the 40th pick, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.

A reasonable price with a little left over, Graham Barton in No. 53. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
