Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall

FutureB-
The Panthers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. There is reaching, and then there is Que Robinson at pick 141. The Panthers jumped the board by 110 and dared it to prove them wrong. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 3 of 9 of the wish list covered.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
In pick 8 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick57
Rnd2
Jared Ivey
Value said wait; Jared Ivey in Round 2, Pick 25 says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick74
Rnd3
Jack Bech
They let Jack Bech come to them and pounced at No. 74. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick110
Rnd4
O'Donnell Fortune
They paid a round early for O'Donnell Fortune in the 110th pick, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick113
Rnd4
Jah Joyner
Jah Joyner at the 113th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick141
Rnd5
Que Robinson
They left a pile of value on the table to take Que Robinson this early at pick No. 141. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick147
Rnd5
Tyler Batty
Tyler Batty in pick No. 147 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick164
Rnd5
Ben Sauls
Ben Sauls in the 164th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick229
Rnd7
Cam Jackson
Cam Jackson is a better player than slot 229 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
