The Lions did not so much draft Tyler Cooper as overpay for him, 35 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.

Thornton Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.
