Draft Grade — Colts
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Colts and Moore: B-. You build a draft on nights like this. Malachi Moore had no business being available in pick 152, and the Colts did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Revel Jr. pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Shavon Revel Jr.
In pick No. 14 they get a potential shutdown corner, even if it was a touch early. Need was not the driver here.
Pick45
Rnd2
Colston Loveland
Colston Loveland at the Round 2 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick80
Rnd3
Carson Schwesinger
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Carson Schwesinger. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick116
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at the 116th overall pick is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick152
Rnd5
Malachi Moore
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Malachi Moore in No. 152, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick191
Rnd6
Cobee Bryant
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cobee Bryant at Round 6, Pick 13. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick234
Rnd7
KeAndre Lambert-Smith
KeAndre Lambert-Smith in the 234th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
