Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
Larceny in the 250th pick lands the Commanders a B+, Kiser and all.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Jack Kiser tumbling to the Commanders in the 250th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.

Rashawn Slater gives the group a proven body among the projects. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick61 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
A quiet steal in the Round 2 slot: Aireontae Ersery for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick79 Rnd3 Darien Porter
Good price on Darien Porter in pick No. 79, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick99 Rnd3 Tre Harris
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 99 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick101 Rnd3 Cam Skattebo
A straight-up fair deal on Cam Skattebo at the 101st pick, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick107 Rnd4 Jared Wilson
They took Jared Wilson at par in No. 107, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick118 Rnd4 Jordan Phillips
Value with a capital V on Jordan Phillips in Round 4, Pick 17, a genuine coup. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick182 Rnd6 Bhayshul Tuten
Taking Bhayshul Tuten in slot 182 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick230 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at the 230th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick250 Rnd7 Jack Kiser
Steal is underselling it; Jack Kiser at Round 7, Pick 32 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor itch, scratched.
