Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall
D

FutureB
A passer of the future in Sanders, and a D, for the Cowboys. The Cowboys looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took J.J. Weaver at the Round 3 slot regardless, 68 picks early. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. Shedeur Sanders is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off.
A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. Landing Ott that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In pick 10 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick26
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a three-down second-level presence at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick42
Rnd2
Tre Harris
Tre Harris in the 42nd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick58
Rnd2
Josh Conerly Jr.
Josh Conerly Jr. at slot 58 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick87
Rnd3
J.J. Weaver
A swing that ignored the value entirely, J.J. Weaver well ahead of where he belonged. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick90
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
They reached into another round for Nicholas Singleton, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick106
Rnd4
Jahdae Barron
A reach on Jahdae Barron in Round 4, Pick 10; the board had better options right there. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick119
Rnd4
Gentry Williams
They liked Gentry Williams enough to skip the value, taking him in the 119th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick122
Rnd4
Alfred Collins
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Alfred Collins. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick154
Rnd5
Jaydn Ott
A slide stopped in the Round 5 slot, with Jaydn Ott worth more than the price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
