The Commanders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Cody Simon fell into pick 236.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Reaching for Williams left real value on the table behind him. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
