A passer of the future in Maye, and a B+, for the Commanders.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Commanders' quarterback, full stop. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.

However the rest shakes out, Tampa at that price is a win they earned. Every board in the league had Johnson lower, and that gap is the story. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

They read the board right and Kool-Aid McKinstry was the payoff at the 36th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

They took Xavier Legette at par in the 40th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.

Jordan Morgan slid further than he should have, and pick No. 49 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.

Good price on Kingsley Suamataia in pick 67, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.

Malachi Corley at slot 74 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.

T.J. Tampa in the Round 3 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
