Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesC+ FutureB+
The Commanders let Sanders fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Commanders watched Raheim Sanders slide 61 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

The cost of the Colby reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick61 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker in pick 61 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick63 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
They robbed the room for Tyler Warren here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick76 Rnd3 Darien Porter
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Darien Porter. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick90 Rnd3 Dylan Sampson
Taking Dylan Sampson in slot 90 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick100 Rnd3 Tory Horton
A straight-up fair deal on Tory Horton at the 100th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick115 Rnd4 Rylie Mills
Rylie Mills in Round 4, Pick 14 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
Pick146 Rnd5 Connor Colby
A wild overpay on Connor Colby in the Round 5 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick203 Rnd6 Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders in No. 203 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Pick236 Rnd7 Jared Wilson
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 236th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick247 Rnd7 Shilo Sanders
A tidy bit of business in No. 247, where Shilo Sanders graded well above the range. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
