Draft Grade — Cowboys

Nobody dealt better than the Cowboys this weekend: B-. The Cowboys clearly saw something nobody else did in Jack Pyburn, taking him 65 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The Ramsey value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick20
Rnd1
Jermod McCoy
Jermod McCoy in the 20th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick21
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In the Round 1 slot they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick76
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
A straight-up fair deal on Domonique Orange at slot 76, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick92
Rnd3
Kamari Ramsey
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Kamari Ramsey in No. 92, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick128
Rnd4
Davison Igbinosun
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Davison Igbinosun in pick 128. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick152
Rnd5
Kage Casey
They jumped the gun on Kage Casey, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick157
Rnd5
CJ Daniels
A tidy bit of business in the Round 5 slot, where CJ Daniels graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick177
Rnd5
Bryce Boettcher
A clean, defensible pick in No. 177 with a little surplus value in Bryce Boettcher. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick180
Rnd5
Aamil Wagner
A reasonable price with a little left over, Aamil Wagner in slot 180. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick213
Rnd6
Tyler Onyedim
Tyler Onyedim at pick 213 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick218
Rnd7
Jack Pyburn
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jack Pyburn well ahead of where he belonged. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
