Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Cowboys answered their biggest question with Sanders. Grade: B.

The Cowboys spent the pick that matters most on Shedeur Sanders, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

Conner has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Hunter at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Shedeur Sanders
In pick 12 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick44 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker at pick No. 44 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick76 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
Circle this one: TreVeyon Henderson at Round 3, Pick 12 is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick149 Rnd5 Logan Brown
Logan Brown at the 149th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick174 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in No. 174 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick204 Rnd6 CJ West
A slide stopped in slot 204, with CJ West worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick211 Rnd6 Hayden Conner
A big swing on Hayden Conner at the 211th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick217 Rnd7 Jarquez Hunter
You do not let a running back like Jarquez Hunter reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Pick239 Rnd7 Howard Cross III
The board had Howard Cross III higher than slot 239, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick247 Rnd7 Shilo Sanders
A real head-scratcher, Shilo Sanders in the 247th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
