Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesC-
FutureB-
The Ravens kept it disciplined and banked a B-. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Ravens spent pick No. 253 on Kendall Milton, a name the board had a full 125 spots lower.
The Ravens indulged a want in Smith while a need in interior defensive lineman, quarterback and other spots stayed open. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Smith falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Kamari Lassiter
Good price on Kamari Lassiter in No. 30, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick64
Rnd2
Brandon Dorlus
Brandon Dorlus in pick 64 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick93
Rnd3
Jalen McMillan
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jalen McMillan in Round 3, Pick 30. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick95
Rnd3
Maason Smith
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Maason Smith at DT-EDGE with interior defensive lineman, quarterback and other spots open.
Pick132
Rnd4
Javon Foster
A straight-up fair deal on Javon Foster at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick134
Rnd4
Shemar Turner
No edge and no loss on Shemar Turner in the 134th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick169
Rnd5
Aki Ogunbiyi
They paid up for Aki Ogunbiyi at No. 169 when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick253
Rnd7
Kendall Milton
Value said wait; Kendall Milton in Round 7, Pick 33 says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
