Draft Grade — Titans
Overall D-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Titans answered their biggest question with Ward. Grade: D-.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Titans, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Put together, it is a D-.

Every board in the league had Lachey lower, and that gap is the story. So much rides on Cam Ward that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him.

A whole weekend of picks and offensive lineman is somehow still a want. Phillips at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and offensive lineman is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Cam Ward
A straight-up fair deal on Cam Ward at Round 1, Pick 1, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick83 Rnd3 Ashton Gillotte
A reach for Ashton Gillotte in the 83rd overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick103 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at pick 103 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick120 Rnd4 Xavier Restrepo
Xavier Restrepo is a better player than slot 120 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick123 Rnd4 Jordan Phillips
Value with a capital V on Jordan Phillips in the Round 4 slot, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick141 Rnd5 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
A premium they did not need to pay, Antwaun Powell-Ryland a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick167 Rnd5 Kyle Williams
No edge and no loss on Kyle Williams in No. 167; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick178 Rnd6 Luke Lachey
A real head-scratcher, Luke Lachey in the 178th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick188 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins at Round 6, Pick 12 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
