FutureB-
Norman-Lott should have been long gone. The Patriots pounced, and earned a B-. You build a draft on nights like this. Omarr Norman-Lott had no business being available in the 106th overall pick, and the Patriots did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
The dealing was even money, start to finish.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Will Campbell
Will Campbell in pick No. 4 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick38
Rnd2
Colston Loveland
A tidy bit of business in No. 38, where Colston Loveland graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick69
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins is a better player than Round 3, Pick 5 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick80
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
They let Quinshon Judkins come to them and pounced at pick 80. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick106
Rnd4
Omarr Norman-Lott
Circle this one: Omarr Norman-Lott at the 106th pick is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick144
Rnd5
Jeffrey Bassa
A linebacker of that caliber at the Round 5 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick171
Rnd5
Jalen Rivers
Jalen Rivers in the 171st overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick220
Rnd7
Jason Marshall Jr.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jason Marshall Jr. in slot 220. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick238
Rnd7
Ja'Quinden Jackson
Ja'Quinden Jackson at the 238th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. The roster fit checks out.
